Coconut Oil

The coconut tree is known as the tree of life . 

This is because of the many benefits it provides. The usage of this palm varies from food,cosmetics, building materials , to making something known as the “pointer brooms” ,Growing up in Guyana the pointer broom was a must have in every household, but I digress . Coconut oil, which is extracted from the dried coconut (copra), through a process, is used in many ways. Today, I’m here to expand your mind on the different uses of it on our skin. This palm is very hydrating and moisturizing, although in excess, has the opposite effect, I personally think its life changing! It is not only known to remove dead skin cells due to its property make up, but it is also known to reduce acne, and rich in antioxidants, making it known to firm the skin for a youthful appearance. Because of the oh so good benefits, this is why it has made its way to the top of the of our list.

Olive Oil

Ahh the olive! This oil is made from olives through a process.

It is found mainly in the Mediterranean Basin. Like coconut oil, is has a multitude of uses ranging from food, pharmaceuticals , soaping and, fuel for lamps. We will focus on the soaping properties of course ! Because of its high oleic content ( this is the fatty acid found naturally in animal and vegetable fats),this contributes to the conditioning and moisturizing abilities used in soap making. Soaps made with 100% olive oil, are often referred to as Castile soaps ( Castile soaps are 100% vegetable based) . Olive oil benefits in soaps are known for being kind to all skin types, its gentle and rich in antioxidants , naturally rich in vitamins E & A to name a few .It is also known to be an effortless anti- aging oil due to its high oleic content, when used in soap our skin relishes the nourishment thereby, replenishing the oils our skin in which we lose when we age, resulting in a healthy glowing appearance !

Avocado Oil

The Avocado .. a worthy opponent..

Borne of the avocado , this is an edible oil. While this oil is full of flavor, and enhances any food dish , the soapy benefits are just as good. Its a haven for antioxidants , fatty acids , vitamins A,B,D, and E, and minerals ! It is also high in oleic acid. This is oil known to promote the elasticity in skin . It is also known to sooth and moisturize the skin so dry ,itchy, flaky skin can take a hike!
